This past weekend was the first small trip out of town my husband and I have taken together, alone, in months.

Between hospital stays and bedrest on and off, we had no break or time to even process what had happened over the past 8 months outside of our environment. We needed to get out of town and do something different; leave our world behind for a bit.

You have days where you need to talk about it and feel it, but other times you really don't want this to be your life.

Although we are both still healing mentally and physically, a trip to the mountains was the perfect place to go and wash it off for a time. It's not a trip we wanted to plan per say, we felt guilt about going, but in the end we needed those wide-open spaces, fresh air and open roads to empty our minds.

You can't run from your problems and emotions, that is for sure, but it certainly can't hurt to see a rainbow, watch it snow, light candles for your babies and feel a little hope for what is to come next.
