My spiritual guide, mentor, therapist, and great friend whom I have come to so appreciate sent this to me this morning. It was the first thing I read when I woke up, still on the couch, but none-the-less. I was so grateful.
I used to be petrified by the "S" word: selfish. I made it my daily mission to try to avoid being associated with this word or term in any way.
What I have learned from this story of mine is that there is a vast difference between having self-care and being selfish. I now understand that if it not an act of peace for me, then it is not meant for me.
Man, I am glad I am finally figuring this out, it only took my 36 years!
